Austcane Energy intends to build an Ethanol and Cogeneration plant in the Burdekin sugar cane region in North Queensland. The plant will process approximately 1 million tonnes of sugarcane per season, producing 600,000 litres per day of fuel grade ethanol from sugar juice and supply 49,000 megawatt hours of renewable electricity annually to the power network.
Queensland Biofuel Mandate - Queensland has a biofuel mandate designed to provide certainty to the biofuels sector to encourage investment and growth, leading to more jobs. The ethanol mandate will start on 1 January 2017 and requires that 3% of regular unleaded petrol sales must be ethanol, increasing to 4% from 1 July 2018.
Austcane Energy is well placed to supply ethanol into this Government initiated program as it develops.
Austcane Energy is seeking companies that require Ethanol into the future and are willing to enter into offtake agreements to develop the plant.
